  • Compliance & Documentation: Utilize state-approved diagnostic equipment and submit inspection results directly to the relevant state department (e.g., the Motor Vehicle Administration or State Police).
  • Diagnosis & Maintenance: Identify damaged, worn, or unsafe parts, provide repair estimates, and communicate needed maintenance with service advisors or customers.
  • Repair Execution: Complete mechanical repairs and conduct thorough re-inspections to ensure the vehicle passes all regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • State Certification: Must hold a valid state-issued Vehicle Inspector license (requirements and tests vary heavily by state, such as Maryland State Inspection or NYVIP in New York).
  • Automotive Experience: Typically requires 2-5 years of experience as an automotive technician, mechanic, or equivalent fleet maintenance work.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of vehicle diagnostics, suspension systems, and emissions regulations
Compensation: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour
